Jaskiran had pictures scheduled in December & every time her shoot was scheduled it was raining! Luckily the rain held off for her shoot! It was a close call.  I was so happy to finally get to capture her!

Jaskiran has dreams of going to either Berkley or Davis & wants to study to become a nurse! I have no doubt she is going to be a success in whatever she does!!!

Thank you, Jaskiran for the AMAZING shoot! You are stunningly beautiful!!!!

She had a  vision of writing this phrase!

As most of you know I live in Redding, CA. The last month has seemed like rain non-stop! Rain & clouds! Hail & sun! Rain & wind! Snow & rain! Literally! This, my friends is not the best scenario for photographers without a studio. The cancellations & re-booking are making April quite full. I am thankful through it all & just taking these slower days to catch-up & to find relaxation. {Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. -Chinese Proverb}

Yesterday I was wallowing in my sorrows of another cancelled photo shoot, because of the rain, and had an “AH HA” moment! There was really nothing I could do about the rain, trust me I was praying, but it just wanted to rain, & I found peace with that. So, I decided to face the situation & make the best of it. To push through the opposite of what I was feeling! To push through the opposite of what I thought I couldn’t do/or really didn’t want to do, and texted Hadley! Waiting for her response,  I instantly saw a door! I have a few doors in my house as decoration & thought I would load one up & find a spot for it!!! The door spoke to me of an opening. There are always doors for us to open. Sometimes they are locked, we have to unlock them. Sometimes they are shut, and those times, it’s a sign, and best go with keeping the door closed. Doors are so powerful! It spoke to me yesterday! Push though, take a step, & enter in!!!

Thankfully Hadley texted me back & she was up for the adventure!!!! Happy Spring Break, Hadley!!!

When it rains, just jump through the puddles!!! There was so much freedom stepping through this door, of everything being “re-booked/cancelled” & stepping into a door of letting nothing hold me back!!!!

and then we found snow. Twenty miles out of Redding it turned into beautiful snow!!!! I honestly wasn’t going after a “snow” shoot, but it really turned out beautifully! & what about snow doesn’t make someone smile?? LOL!!!!

and the one’s that make my heart smile the most…. too hard for me to narrow it down, so a few too many…. keep on your journey!!!!

.social networking. {Rainy Day Randomness}

Hello Friends! How are you??? Hope you are doing good. It’s been raining in Redding for days, so I can honestly say this post might be due to the fact that it’s raining a ton & pretty much every photoshoot is getting re-booked!!!!

So, in my “rainy dayness” I decided to join almost every social network that I wasn’t apart of! HAHAHAH!!!

The next social kind of network that I joined is Instagram! It is an iPhone app that takes amazing pics, while at the same time, you can get comments through Instagram, or you can just post the images to Facebook & or Twitter & get a comment their as well….. .For Japan With Love.

We will be participating in the Blogger’s Day of Silence, part of the For Japan with Love Disaster Relief, to show our support for all who are now suffering in Japan. That means that today, March 18th, there will be no new posts.

We hope you will take a moment to visit the For Japan with Love website, and join us in making a donation if you can, no matter how small. All proceeds will go to ShelterBox, which provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. Each large green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster, but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. Your donation can help change the outcome for a Japanese family in need.

A very special thank you to Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged for organizing this amazing display of love and compassion.

and here’s how they met: (thanks Bethany for your beautiful story!)
Ben and I met at Bethel. I was a 2nd year BSSM student, leading Friday night strikes. He was a 1st year BSSM student, skipping service to do the bar ministry with his roommate for the first time ..which ended up being cancelled!
Since I was running late, they were already down to the last 2 groups to teams off with a 2nd year leader. Out of the last few standing Ben Nixon was the only one who spoke up right away when my team leader asked who wanted to go with Bethany. And that was the most unproductive yet amazing treasure hunts of my life!! (love this!!)
I couldn’t stand him at first, but after he pulled out a few crazy accurate words of knowledge about me and hearing his fine Aussie accent, I soon became the most talkative person at outreach. So, we got to know each other really well from that point on. I guess you could say that it was love at first Friday night strike!
Alright, that was quite a novel I wrote there. Moving on. We’ve been together since last April. After he came up to Alaska for 3 weeks to meet my family (this last Christmas), he asked my parents for my hand in marriage. Soon after that, he proposed! We’ve been engaged since January 22nd.

Congratulations, Ben & Bethany! I’m looking forward to capturing  your wedding at 1:11 p.m. on April 11th!!.

Having someone believe in you, especially when starting out, is huge! Dina Morton believed in me from the beginning. From doing family shoots, newborn shoots,  portrait sessions, and to her son’s wedding, Dina has believed in me! She has supported my business & has been an incredible voice of wisdom & advice through this business adventure!!! Thank you, Dina! I love you!!!

Having me capture her son’s wedding came at no surprise! I was thrilled from the moment they asked me! So honored! Watching Sam fall in love with Amanda was such a beautiful story! I think she had him at hello! A woman of beauty & grace, Amanda is incredible!! Sam & Amanda! We are so happy for you! We know you’re life together is going to be a beautiful story!! Thank you for the honor of capturing your most beautiful day!

Her shoes.. OMG! TDF! Loved them!!!!

Sam & Amanda opted for a first glance moment!!! Sam’s son came along! He was the cutest helper ever!!!

It was such a beautiful moment! Tears!! We stayed at the Arboretum Gardens for more pictures of the two of them!

We headed over to another location for more bride & groom pics & some bridal party pics!! I love shooting off site & mixing it up a bit!!!!

They got married & celebrated at River View Country Club!  It was a beautiful ceremony! It was officiated by Dani Johnson.

Yeah!!!!! & they are MARRIED!! MR. & MRS. Gifford!!!

The Reception was D.J.’d by Mike Flannigan! He kept it fun & very entertaining!!! I have to share a story. If you’ve gotten this far down the row of pictures, you’re ready for a laugh… Well, I’m shooting the dance, and I lean into the wall, to find out that the wall wasn’t a wall, but a panel. Literally had the rug pulled from under me & fell right on my buns! OMG! Yep! It happens! Ouch!!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!

It was a wintery wonderland wedding!! It went from being gorgeous sunny weather, and a wedding outside, to a snowy cold weather, & a wedding moved indoors! I was amazed at how spectacularly they pulled it off, but they did, and it was incredibly beautiful!

The wedding was held at O’Brien Mountain Inn just outside of Redding. The venue was absolutely exceptional! Even in the snow & all of the wetness we were able to shoot outside & not look too cold!!! Gwen Edwardson of  Weddings with Gwen, was as usual, over the top! Expediting the wedding from start to beginning, dotting every “i” & crossing every “t”, Gwen made the wedding as smooth as hot honey!!! LOL! Thanks, Gwen! Love ya! Tyler Fairies was the videographer, and let me just tell you, you NEED TYLER at YOUR wedding! He is the video MAN! Absolutely amazing work! All this to say. Francesco & Suzanna’s wedding was incredible! I cried, yes, I cried! It was so special & so wonderful!!!

Congratulations you two! Ben & I are so excited for your lives together!! We were so honored to be apart of your wedding!! Truly honored! Thank you!

Have to throw one of Tyler in the mix! He’s absolutely brilliant! I love working with him! Teaming up for shots & video reels is always a blast!!!!

Garrett Viggers & his dulcimer created such a romantic presence throughout the wedding! I could listen to Garrett play all day! Be sure to check out his site! You’ll instantly fall in love!!!!

The ceremony was officiated by Kevin & Theresa Dedmon! They do an awesome job!!! I love fun ceremonies! Sentimental is always wonderful, but a little fun in the mix always makes it perfection!!! Had to share this picture! We set  up one starburst & taking the picture, caught someone else’s flash & whala!!! Two starbursts!!!!

Bet you cannot guess this song!!! LOL…

.Redding Twin Palms 4-H Photography Project. {Redding, CA Photographer}

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with Redding’s finest group of 4-H Photographers! They were all eager to learn & more than that, willing to be photographed. Sooo, I was able to demonstrate some photography tips, finding locations all within the surrounding area, a few poses & composition ideas,  all while capturing each of the students. I am a hands on learner, and it was so great getting to teach “hands on!”  It was lots of fun!!!!

This 4-H group & their own personal photographs will be featured this Saturday at Redding’s super fun ART HOP! Be sure to visit them at Viva Downtown.

Thank you so much, photographers for such an AMAZING time! I loved this day! I felt so alive teaching you & capturing you!!!! Keep pursuing your dreams & your passions!!!
