This weekend starts the busier side of the Wedding Season! We are flying down to Pismo Beach to shoot Taylor & Paige’s wedding! We are absolutely excited for this wedding celebration! It’s going to be incredible!
I just love engagement sessions! Caleb & Kymberly are the sweetest in love couple ever!! He brought his mustang! She brought her maid-of-honor. It was a fabulous shoot!!! I am totally thrilled because these two will be getting married on 11.11.11!! Whooo Hooo!!!! There’s just something special about 11.11.11!
I literally write this blog with tears in my eyes! Last week I captured champions! A family that will forever be so precious to my heart & forever in my prayers! I loved witnessing & capturing love, strength, & most of all champions! I asked Kristi to write for my blog. Her words are stunning, her heart unbelievable!
Thank you, Davis Family! You are champions!!!!
Our oldest son, Hayden, was born with ACC (Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum). The corpus callosum is the largest connection pathway in the human brain. It is made of more than 200 million nerve fibers that connect the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Hayden is missing his corpus callosum completely. In addition to the ACC, Hayden also had congenital brain malformations involving the cerebellum. The combination of these brain defects has left him severely handicapped. He is unable to walk or talk or see. We have no communication with him except for crying when he is upset. He is fed by a G-tube in his stomach. He has a seizure disorder that includes seizures where he stops breathing for a few seconds and turns blue. He has such an unusual condition that the “experts” have very little information for his prognosis.
After receiving the news regarding Hayden’s condition, we were devastated and overwhelmed with grief. We had no family history of any medical problems and I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy. After he was born we went through a long period of sadness and heartache. Gradually, as we began to heal and accept, we went from the place of “why us?” to “why not us?”. We believe we were chosen to be Hayden’s parents because God knew we had the strength and the love to handle it. Our parents and family are such a source of love, support and help with Hayden. Hayden has taught us more about love, patience and hope than we ever thought possible. And most of all, he has taught us about a plan in life that is greater than our own.
Our other two children, Lauren and Keaton were born perfectly healthy and beautiful. They are the joy of our everyday. Having healthy children after a handicapped child, changes your perspective on everything. What parents normally see as milestones… the first time your baby looks in your eyes, smiles, giggles, hugs, first steps, first time they hold your hand……. We saw as nothing short of a miracle. And to get to experience all those miracles has been the greatest blessing. To watch Lauren and Keaton already taking care of their big brother and show him unconditional love is the sweetest thing. Hayden still brings us challenges, but we are so happy and blessed with the lives and family we have.
One of the things I read over and over was this saying by Ida Scott Taylor
One day at a time, this is enough
Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone;
And do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come.
Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.
—By Kristi Davis (The Davis family: Todd & Kristi, Hayden (7), Lauren (5) and Keaton (2))
Love this little sequence!!! Oh how beautiful curiosity is!!!
I love capturing families in their home, doing what they love doing together… Oh the memories of coloring & a box of color crayons!!
and the sweetness of “butterfly kisses”!
and one of the sweetest things about this shoot was the nest we found! I think I scared the quail more than quail scared me!!!!
Celebrating friends birthdays is one of my favorite days! Trying to outdo last years gift is always the most exciting… LOL! Ingamae’s birthday is always a fun celebration! She daily celebrates all of those around her. If you follow my blog & follow my comments, she pretty much comments on every post & it’s the most encouraging comment!! She so truly celebrates others! SOOO to celebrate HER is really awesome! She is so giving & so kind, & so full of joy & FUN! We snapped a few pics before our dinner reservation at Anselmo Vineyards! If you haven’t visited Anselmo yet, do! It is beyond delicious & the experience is breathtaking! The evening was magical & absolutely gorgeous!
Hope this year is the best celebration you’ve ever had, Ingamae! Love you sweet girl!!!!!
Kira brought a few pieces of her art home, from her art class at school, and I was in awe! She said it was with a pastel medium. Conner has been highlighted as an artist & is always drawing & doodling, Madison is always designing fashion & making magazines….. I love when my kids surprise me with their gifts! Kira totally surprised me with her art! I felt like this picture needed to be shared! There is just something about it! This last month for me has been challenging. My car’s engine went out & then Ben’s truck engine went out, so in the mean time, have been so blessed with friends & family loaning us their car, but it’s been hard, honestly. I’m just letting go & trusting that we will find the right car!!!! Sooo, leave it to my daughter to speak, through her giftings, right to my heart! Let go!
Yoda, Boba Fett, R2-D2, Chewie…. Yeah! Chewie REALLY got the smiles to come out & the eeeee to be a happy smile!!!, but let me just say after this shoot I learned of more Star Wars characters than ever before!!! These two little cuties were super excited to receive a little lego toy after this shoot! Yes, bribes are always great! It keeps things exciting & keeps little people smiling!!!! I was trying to guess what character they were going to receive, I was convinced Chewie was the character for sure!
Barb, your boys are adorable! Thank you so much for having me capture them! You are an amazing mother!!!!! I just loved watching their eyes twinkle as they looked at you & as they embraced you, and as you snuggled them!

I’ve been so excited to share this engagement session!!! In laying out the shoot, Christa really wanted to incorporate her & Keith’s Cruisers! I knew it was going to be fun session!
Keith and Christa met in August 2009 at Big League Dreams. He was playing softball and she was watching. They started dating the October after that and it’s been constant fun ever since. He proposed to Christa on February 18th at the end of a long day skiing in Tahoe, on the gondola ride down from Northstar. Then surprised her with both of their families meeting for a whole weekend of celebrations! So romantic! I just melted when I heard how he proposed!!!!
Looking forward to capturing their wedding in August!!! Cannot wait!
I was wondering how I was going to blog about graduation & yet another stepping stone of our process!!! Monday was Bethel’s School of Ministry’s 1st Year Graduation. I believe just over 800 students graduated! It was an incredible graduation! Such a celebration!!! It was absolutely remarkable. You can watch it here if you want!!! Really astounding! This year was Ben’s immersion back as a 1st Year Revival Group Pastor, after stepping down for a year, because of a moral failure. Honestly, I was really scared going back into ministry after what had happened, but after much prayer I knew it was going to be a great year! I committed to being involved with him & his revival group as much as possible, & I can honestly say, this year was INCREDIBLE!!! So many emotions flooding right now as this year has come to a close & students are going back home & stepping into their destiny’s! I wish I could keep each of them right here forever! I have found a love for each of our students & feel beyond grateful for their love & their support!!! This year wouldn’t have been possible without them & without their trust & embrace!! I’m truly in awe, & cannot stop crying!!!!
The Kim Family is one of the amazing families from Ben’s Revival Group! The first time I met them, they gave me the biggest hug & with the most joy I have ever felt, said they were so happy to be in our group!!! Our families have become great friends over the last nine months! My kids love their FIVE kids, and we just cannot get enough of them! They are always so full of fun, joy, happy, peace & laughter!!!
I was so excited when they booked a photo shoot! I knew it was going to be a blast!!!! I felt like Old Shasta was the place to take them. It speaks of inheritance, as does this family!!! There is just something about this place. I know it’s been a very popular place for photographers in the area, but there is just something about history, depth, & character that makes photographs beautiful!!! Thank you Hannah for having the balloon idea & bringing them!! So great!!!! Loved how they turned out!!!!
Thank you Kim’s for all of your LOVE! Truly you are all remarkable!
Okay, soooo!!! This weather! Seriously? It’s raining here in Redding, again, today! It feels like we’re back to winter!!! I know it’s going to get hot, so not complaining, but oh for the love of rain!!!!!
Mari & Rorie!!! We had their session booked & ready to go. She had texted me pics of her fabulous outfits, just had to wait for their Wednesday to get here! & then Wednesday came & it was raining!!! No problem, let’s just re-route to the following Wednesday… Clear skies, then rain on Wednesday! Yep! So a few Wednesdays later woke up to overcast skies! Not quite sure what it all means, but the rain held off & we were able to have an awesome URBANish engagement shoot!!!
Thanks Mari & Rorie for being so patient!! Congratulations on your engagement!!!!!
