Lauren & Jesse!!! Today, their wedding day!!
March 30th at 9:48am, right before I was about to do my daily walk, I received the e-mail that they had decided to postpone their wedding. I literally cried for a mile. I just couldn’t imagine being in their shoes, all of the planning & excitement of a wedding & then having to cancel it all. So surreal. So many emotions. Lauren, though, so peaceful & calm, secure in their decision, so beautiful!
Today they will have a little elopement ceremony!!! 5 years together, it’s TIME to tie the knot!! & in a year from now, they will have a reception to celebrate their marriage!!
I am so honored to be a part of your wedding story! Thank you for sharing your process of getting through postponing your wedding due to Covid-19.
All the feels… how are you handling re-scheduling your wedding??? Walk me through that… How are you doing?? (I have been thinking & praying for you so much)   This whole situation has been so unreal. I feel like we are living in a movie! When the shelter-in-place order came out, we were hopeful that it would be lifted by the time our wedding rolled around, but it became clear pretty quickly that it would be necessary to reschedule.  We want our guests to feel comfortable and not anxious at our celebration.  We knew that if we still had our wedding on April 18, many guests would not show up and the ones that did might be nervous about getting too close to somebody else.  We didn’t want to postpone our ceremony as we have been looking forward to being married, so we decided we would still do our ceremony but have a big celebration with all our loved ones for our one-year anniversary next year.  Most of our vendors have been so amazing & understanding with us.

Your favorite quote, verse or song that is helping you get through this time…

All of the Psalms are so encouraging to me, I see a theme of God’s protection and provision. Psalm 121 is a favorite right now.

PSALMS 121: 1-8  I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Are you going to re-book?

Yes!   We are hoping to keep the reception pretty similar to what we already have planned, and looking forward to an excuse to continue the celebration.

How have you found happiness through all of this?

We both felt so much better once we made the decision to postpone. It was like a weight was lifted off our shoulders.  Even though our wedding won’t be the one I have always dreamed about, the important thing is I am marrying my best friend and I get to begin the rest of my life with him!  It has also helped me to refocus on what getting married is truly all about. It is so easy for me to get caught up in searching pinterest for all the perfect little details. I definitely feel guilty of putting more time into planning my wedding than planning for my marriage!  So in a way, I am thankful for this as it has helped me to change my perspective a little bit!

anything you might want to add or share….

So thankful that you are willing to be flexible and still capture our wedding for us! Your positive attitude is so helpful and encouraging! (You are so welcome!!)

Thank you Lauren & Jesse for your beautiful insight into your process of everything!!! Putting this together has me in tears!!! Perspective is beautiful! YOUR perspective is BEAUTIFUL! Your marriage will be so blessed because of your courage & perspective in what being married is all about!!! Truly so honored to work with you & be your photographer! Looking forward to April 17, 2021 when we CELEBRATE your marriage!!!!
